Fall 2023

Ink, charcoal, goauche, paper, digital

Till Death Do Us Part is a multifunctional collection. The name alludes to the ability of the collection to transcend the past definitions of situational attire by breaking down the elements that make clothing appropriate. Different cultures use specific colors to identify certain circumstances. In Western cultures, the color black can be identified as mourning while in some Eastern cultures white has the same association. Because of these colorations, it was important that this collection didn’t just adhere to one specific viewpoint. I wanted to also incorporate symbols within each pattern in a subtle way that still gave the garment meaning. I picked out each symbol by researching animals and elements that were pertinent to both weddings and funerals as well as deciphering the similarities and differences of each event. Each garment of the collection has a character attached; it is up to the viewer to decide their story.
