Fall 2022

Paper and acrylic paint

When asked to wear something that expressed my identity, I found myself in a plaid mini skirt and white airforce ones. From there, I researched the history of the two pieces and asked how they represented me. I grew up extremely religious and because of that, I was limited in several areas including the way I dressed. I wanted to deconstruct the ideals that I was taught, and as a result, I created my own plaid by cutting up and weaving together pieces of sermons as well as religious texts that I didn't agree with.
